I had the pleasure of dining onboard both Avalon View and Avalon Envision. The dining service was outstanding. In fact, the dining staff anticipated my preferences by the very second morning, ensuring my fresh cranberry juice was waiting at breakfast without me ever having to ask. The seafood entrees were consistently prepared perfectly. As you might expect, my favorite course was dessert. The ice cream is made completely from scratch onboard and was the best I have had on any river or ocean cruise. Tauck is a legacy brand defined by unparalleled guest experiences for both land and water journeys. They excel at granting exclusive access to destinations and private venues that remain entirely out of reach for standard tour companies. While dining onboard the elegant MS Grace, I felt completely pampered. While every course was wonderful, two distinct elements elevated our evening into something truly unforgettable. As a spectacular finale to our main course, the renowned Diamond Baritones musical group entered the dining room, serenading guests before personally inviting us up to the Panorama Lounge to enjoy an exclusive performance alongside our final course. This was unique to Tauck and was truly wonderful. These thoughtful, unexpected enhancements are precisely what keep loyal guests returning to the brand year after year. The second highlight was the attention to detail for our last course, dessert. At the rim of our plate, they wrote out ASTA River Cruise Expo in chocolate. The small detail really elevated our experience and made me feel connected to Tauck.

Without a doubt the best food I have tasted on the river was with Riverside on my Danube River cruise. In fact, I will take that endorsement a step further: it stands as the single finest dining experience I have ever had on any week long vacation, including both land and sea. Every single dish is crafted entirely from scratch using premium, locally sourced ingredients. Riverside refuses to accept compromises or take shortcuts in their food preparation and that is what makes them stand out. During the mixology masterclass onboard, they shared that their beverage program completely forgoes the pre-made mixers and instead they hand crafted every single infusion and botanical reduction from raw ingredients. During dinner the dishes had a melt in your mouth quality that should have been awarded a Michelin star. When I took a behind the scenes galley tour, I was astonished to discover my own photograph prominently displayed on the executive chef's briefing board. Beneath my photo, the culinary team cataloged my specific dietary restrictions, ensuring that the entire preparation and service staff were completely aligned to what foods I could not have. The daily changing menus balanced classic favorites with regional specialties. All were paired with premium local wines by the onboard sommelier.
