Mexico: The Top Six Beaches In The Mexican Caribbean

Mexico is know for is beautiful beaches, warm sunshine, and views for days. Before sharing the top beaches in the Mexican Caribbean there there are two important things to note.


1 - Each resort is not created equally when it comes to the beach. Even a hotel next door to another can be different based on the topography, location, weather patterns, and ocean currents. Here are the top six beaches for in the Mexican Caribbean.

Secrets Maroma

#1 Playa Maroma

Playa Maroma is just over a 30 minute drive from the Cancun airport. It is between Playa del Carmen and Puerto Morelos It is home to the most beautiful beach in the Mexican Caribbean.

#2: Playacar

Playacar is just south of Playa del Carmen and is part of a gated community. It draws both tourists and locals for the wonderful views of the sand and ocean.

Xpu-Ha Beach

#3 Xpu-Ha. This beach is between Puerto Adventuras and Akumal. The beach is long and typically has white sand and turquoise water. There are not many resorts in this area, but there are beach clubs if you want to check the beaches out and go snorkeling.



Costa Mujeres
Costa Mujeres

#4 Costa Mujeres Costa Mujeres is north of Cancun has the best beaches if you are worried about seaweed. This is because the island of Isla Mujeres helps protect it from sargassum. Disclaimer: no beach will always be free of sargassum as it also appears through the Caribbean and in Florida. Some of the resorts in Costa Mujeres will have foliage in the sand which gives the beach a natural look.

Tulum!


#5 Tulum

The southern beach area is the ideal place to be. A bonus of staying in Tulum is that you are very close to Mayan runs. Tulum has become more popular recently and in 2024 a new international airport was opened in Tulum. Most international travelers arrive in Cancun, but for those staying in Tulum the airport makes it more convenient.

#6 Cancun Hotel Zone
