Top 5 activities for active teens onboard Icon of the Seas

You have heard friends talk about Icon of the Seas. Are there activities geared towards teen? Yes! Lets explore the top 5 activities for active teens.

#5 Adrenaline Peak is the rock climbing wall onboard Icon of the Seas. It can be found at the Thrill Island. Rock climbing has become a staple with the Royal Caribbean ships and with good reason - kids enjoy seeing how fast they can climb to the top and ring the bell. There are open times to climb at leisure. Royal Caribbean will also host rock climbing competition that only teens can participate in.

#4 Crown’s Edge is a first for Royal Caribbean. If your teen loves heights and a bit of adventure, then check out Crown Edge. It is a combination of an obstacle course and walking the plank. Don’t worry – you are harnessed in but can give your teen a bit of a scare as the ground disappears behind them and they see the ocean waves below them! You start out on the ship and this experience takes out outside the ship by the huge Crown and Anchor symbol on the outside of the ship. This activity should be reserved in advance and will sell out, especially on sea days. The entire experience, including instruction, takes about 15 minutes. Friends and family can cheer each other on as they try it out.

Social 020 is a fun place to teens to hang out

#3 Social 020 is the teen club onboard. Here teens can play video games, foosball, watch movies, play interactive games, and enjoy life as a teen. Pro tip: On the first day of cruising there is an open house so you can check out this area, even if you don't have a teen.

#2 Sport Court is the place to be for the active teen. It is located in Thrill Water Park. Royal Caribbean moved the sports court to its own deck. The sport court transforms to host an array of activities from pickleball, soccer, basketball, and more. Royal Caribbean hosts teen only games an are a great way to meet kids the same age and have fun.

Category 6 at Thrill Island

#1 Category 6 is a waterpark with 6 (yes 6!) water slides onboard Icon of the Seas.  It is located in Thrill Island. It is a blast. And while I have this at the top for teens, adults can ride as well. It’s a great place to cool off in the water while having fun and making memories.

Pro tip: the rides will have the shortest line when it first open, on port days, and during dinner.

Category 6 is home the following rides:

Frightening Bolt: The tallest drop slide at sea  - Minimum height: 52” tall

Pressure Drop: The first open freefall slide at sea - Minimum height: 52” tall  Hurricane Hunter: The first family raft slide at sea - Minimum height: 48” tall – it is also my favorite of all the attractions!

Storm Surge:  The first suspended family raft slide at sea - Minimum height: 48” tall – this one is my second favorite of the rides.

Storm-Chasers: The longest mat racing slides at sea  - Minimum height: 48” tall
