Top 5 Things to Do outside the Theme Parks at Walt Disney World in 2024

Updated: Dec 6, 2023

Looking for what to do outside the Parks, but still want to stay in the magic? Besides enjoying the amenities at your resort, what are some of the other activities you can enjoy? This article will share the top 5 activities to do in and around Walt Disney World without going inside the theme parks.

Visiting Walt Disney World is so much fun. Many families like to have a non park day. How should you spend your day?

Lets start with one of our family favorites, Foot Golf. Are you wondering what in the world footgolf is? Foot Golf is a combination of soccer and golf. You play on a golf course and try to kick the soccer ball into the designated hole. In Orlando you can play footgolf at Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course. The 9-Hole FootGolf course is certified by the American FootGolf League (AFGL). Make sure to make reservations if you are interested in playing. Click here.

If Foot Golf isn’t your thing, many guests like to play Mini Golf. Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf is themed to the movie Fantasia. It is located near the Swan Reserve. If you love Christmas, consider going to Disney's Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course. It is located next to Blizzard Beach Water Park. Both locations are a lot of fun to play and offer onsite parking. For those staying on Walt Disney World property, check your magical extras. In 2024 mini golf is included.

Ft. Wilderness and Campground offers a few different activities at Tri-Circle-D Ranch. You can book these adventures even if you are staying off property. The ranch is home to over 90 horses. Go for a pony or horse ride. You can also take a carriage ride through the resort. Bonus: while you are here check out Cinderella’s Ponies. Click here for more information.

Continuing the theme of things to do at Ft. Wilderness and Campground, head to the bike barn. Here is where you can learn hold and fire a compound bow. As with most activities, it is suggested to make advanced reservations for the archery experience. With any activity at Ft. Wilderness and Campground, give yourself extra time to get there. It can take a while to check in during the afternoons. Once parked you will take an internal resort bus to your activities.

Bike riding for one, or two, or many is a unique way to bond with other members of your traveling party. There are several locations at Walt Disney World where you can rent bikes. My favorite place to ride is around Port Orleans Riverside. It is beautiful riding along the Sassagoula River. Rent a bike that is close to the resort you are staying at. There are adult and children’s bikes. Helmets and child seats are also available. Click here for more information.
